Work With Toxic Workplace Survival Guy Live in London!
Climate psychologist Steffi Bednarek and I are co-hosting a one-day workshop at The Conduit in London on Saturday, December 7 to support a small group of people to explore the professional dilemmas they’re experiencing in relation to the climate crisis. (Resonant World #65: A New Lens on the Climate Crisis).
We called the workshop “Should I Stay, or Should I Go?” to reflect the dilemma I spoke about in a video of the same title in July last year: (Resonant World #35: Should I Stay, or Should I Go?). Tickets are £275 including lunch, and you can find out more and register here. (Places are going so please book soon to avoid disappointment!)
Survival Tool #40: Resource Yourself With Bespoke Audio
When we’re stuck (for now) in a toxic workplace, we feel cut off from our essence.
We feel like we’ve taken a wrong turn into a quagmire, with no clear avenue of escape.
If we become too preoccupied with the apparent unresolvability of the situation, we narrow our options.
We lose contact with the part of ourselves that sees a broader view.
We must take steps to cultivate our connection to this higher source of guidance — a perspective that can see past the impossible dilemmas we face.
Tuning in
When I was at the height of my toxic workplace ordeal, I had fewer tools at my disposal to strength this connection than I do now.
One of my most recent discoveries is that I can create a potent resource by imagining the encouraging words my Higher Self would tell me about my work (or any other) situation — then record the message on my phone.
I created just such a transmission some weeks back, and I listen to it at least once a day — mostly when I’m walking to work, or on the train.
I find it very soothing to hear this precisely calibrated encouragement in my own voice — my Higher Self, speaking to myself.
If this idea intrigues you, I invite you to have a go at recording some audio for yourself.
I didn’t spend any time scripting or rehearsing — I just dropped into a resourced state and let the words flow.
I actually love my original recording, and thought about sharing it raw.
But since it spoke to some specifics of my personal situation, I decided it would make more sense to make some minor changes and create a more general variation, which you can hear in the podcast above.
If you feel a resonance, feel free to use it as inspiration to create your own bespoke version — or simply listen along to the above transmission whenever you want.
(I love creating this kind of audio, which I sometimes create on request for members of the Resonance Council — supporters of
‘s sister publication, . If you’d like me to create some audio to speak to your situation specifically, drop me a line direct).Incidentally, “aligning with our authentic future” is this month’s theme in the Resonant Man initiative I run with my friend Jacob Kishere. You can read more about what we’re offering in the below post — and do get in touch with me or Jacob directly if you think this work might be a fit for you.
Summary
Drop into a resourced state and record a message from your Higher Self on your phone. Listen to it every day to instantly feel more connected and awake.
