Thanks for this Matthew...I really enjoy reading your publications and appreciate how they help me from the enormous amount of gaslighting I have endured. Particularly by HR... or rather 'People Care' in my previous company. I am not actually sure how people in HR manage the incongruence they must feel acting as these agents. Would be interesting to hear their take in an article one day...

Yup have very much experienced this. Even when I documented everything incredibly carefully. Absolutely nothing happened and senior leadership were able to get away with racist behaviour with a few trite words saying they won't do it again...

I'm sorry this happened. It happened in my company too. It was highly racist...yet boasting about 'diversity' 😪

I had an HR ("People Services") team who I think really *cared/tried* in general, but yes, when I came with a file or receipts about racist micro-agressions and misconduct by an interim executive who had friends in the highest seat with the literal purse strings, it was a joke. The result was that I was thereafter left out of the meetings and off the emails - they removed me from equation quietly. I didn't lose my job, but I lost access and was effectively silenced. During my fairly short tenure (I q-u-i-t), the People Services department also lost 2/3 of their team. I know at least one left, like me, not to another job, but just away from that one.
